My cousin, who details sports cars and other vintage vehicles, taught me how to remove the oxidation that made my black '96 Ranger look like it needed a new paint job. It looks great now when washed and lightly waxed. Like new.

This was only after he had laughed at me saying, in disbelief "you're still driving that same truck you had back in ... ???"

Of course ... it's a Ranger! Now it's about 20 years and 215,830 miles later, probably a little more (as my odometer's not 100%) with a few new parts like alternators, generators, something-or-another-aerators. In need of completing an HVAC blend door replacement I started a while ago ...

Currently needs new brake drums and cylinders as it's leaking brake fluid ... but heck, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Attached pictures show its new sheen in 2014.

It is the 2.3L L4 SOHC 8V, 5 Speed Manual, XLT Supercab 2WD model that appeared on the Ford advertisement brochure, and was a Dealer Demo from Magic City Ford in nearby Roanoke, VA. I added a Glasstite shell, which made it look abit like an SUV.

Thanks for being here! I'm concerned it may need to stop drinking alcohol (ethanol gas) ... but I'll search for responses elsewhere ... I'm sure it has been discussed, maybe even there's a 12-Step program for its Recovery (lol)

Best Wishes
