1bulb to 3bulb 3rd brake lights?

Tinkering around with some spare sockets i have, i just filled the two empty holes my 3rd brake light had. Figured it'll help when i nightshade it soon anyway.

i know the pictures suck!, sorry can't help that. but you can kinda see the results, looks better in person of course. Looked like that circuit was rated for 20amps, not sure if that is used for towing lights or anything else but..its up to about 18a now. I'll drive it around, if i pops the fuse i'll change to leds or what have you.

took all of about 5-10mins to do

Before

After (dome light was off, but it looks on)

haha, yea they were just like some license plate or side amber sockets for the cuda i had laying around. picked up some of the #222 bulbs that are already there and tap sliced them in there (not perfect, but its a damn 3rd brake light in a sealed enviornment..anything else woulda soldered it). Those 222s were a snug fit, but they work for me!

I've had it done for over 3 years now, you will have no problems. I used a third brake light harness off of one with cargo lights and just wired it so that all of them light up with the brakes so that it fits perfect.

i thought about goin thata way too, but decided to just go for the brake lighting. i ordered some nightshade, so i want to keep them as bright as possible when applied.

That do much for bed lighting? Was thinking i may be able to just put some lights on the underside of my tool box lid, open it up and could be useful someday.

you're right Ryan, my fault for not noticing. i just read his posts. someone ban him. we don't need senseless and worthless members who talk trash on peoples' classic cars, hack a 3rd brake light thread, or say "yeah homi g" bc that is for the Escalades on 28"s forum. sspizzle i hope you read this. you make my last name/screenname look bad.

The exposure on your camera is set to WAY too long.

I plan on putting this dual stage light in the 3rd brakelight, to replace 2 led boards I already modded into there.

I got mine from the local Honda place. Makes the 3rd brake light flash 3-6 times, and then stays on. Is this what your talking about?

Yep, just a tie in to the power.. is it literally just sort of an ib-between.. slice the wire, put in in, and reput it ack type of deal?

And on a second note... notice the difference on these things, my truck had a full 3 bulb third brake light when I purchased it, still looking around for some high output LED's to light up my cargo area, but this picture shows that newer fords dont even have a trunk light o.O

Edit: The newer grabber orange, and DSG trucks both have single bul base ones, as opposed to the red, green, and my white which have three bul options.
