94 ranger, 96 explorer front end?

hey, so i have decided that i dont like the front end on my 94 XLT. the lights are just too big and plain. so i then saw pics of my brothers 99 explorer are decided i really like the looks of those. so, i want to swap out if posible, the hood, fenders, and bumper from a 96 explorer, actualy im not too sure what year had the square fog lights, but thats what i want. has anybody tried this, or think it will work?

thanx alot guys,
over and out

I think the explorer front end is a little wide for the ranger. Its been done though, but I believe there was some fab work involed. Be right back.

Found a picture so far:

You have to graph the front of the explorer fenders on to your ranger fenders. explorer fenders do not line up with the ranger.

yea they do......just have to stretch out some of the fender bolt holes.......

i dont believe that the Explorer front ends are wider either.....

i like the looks of the explorer front end on a ranger......like said above, graphing in the headlight outline of the explore fenders would prolly be the hardest part....well besides custom brackets for the bumper......you would also have to swap out the header panel from the explorer....

or you can put on the explorer fenders and smooth out the upper body crease on the ranger all the way down the side........since the explorer dont have that body line...

dont forget on a 93-97 to get that front end on you will need the explorer radiator support also welded in that requires you drilling out the spot welds on your radiator support and welding this one is square and straight, then also the front frame horns where the bumper bolts to are 100% different meaning you have to custom fab some bumper brackets to hold the explorer bumper...and i beleave but not positive the hood brackets on the ranger wont line up with the explorer... have fun let us know how it turns out...

If i had the choice, id would do a Mountaineer front end, imo, still the same two wire setup (head light and turn signals) without the added stress of adding an addition socket.

Over a decade ago, Ford made a prototype Ranger with the Explorer front end, suspension, and 4 wheel disc braking system. It also was a red regular cab short bed with the 240 HP Cobra V8, 5 speed manual tranmission, Cobra R wheels, rear roll pan and tan Splash high end bucket seats. If this was made, I would've traded my 1995 GTS Mustang in on it.

In the article, they said that the lines on the Explorer fenders had to be modified to fit the doors.

Hell wasn't someone on RPS doing a Aviator front end swap? I remember it was a ton of work. I've seen a few rangers in Mini Truckin' with the 95+ explorer front end swap. I have to say its the best looking next to the Edge front ends.

Like said above the hood wont just line up. There is a good amount of fab work needed, but the end result is worth it.
