I have just purchased a 2007 extended ranger with cap 4.0l 2wd 57k with limited slip rear end but found it still sliding around more than I total of three 30 x24 x 1.5" think patio stones added, Each weighing 100lbs. I did trim .5" off of the last one and painted the edge black. added brackets to surround the patio stones to prevent shifting. also added 1.5" wood to help support the sides (the picture is showing the end that would be toward the cab). Painted the plywood black to match the box, also added slots 24" in from the tailgate to add a divider Created a divider from the extra piece of 1/2 plywood to stop small loads from shifting forward, it just drops down snugly into place. patio stone and divider added.
wanted when the first snow fell for the season. I first tried a couple of 5 gallon buckets of crushed stone tied to the back end, but did not like the limited functionality, so i decided to install 3 24 by 30 patio stones for a total weight of 300lbs. then I took a 1/2' piece of plywood and cut it to fit between the wheel wells- then added some 1" brackets to hold the patio stones in place. I also wanted to add something to stop items from sliding forward so i notched the plywood and created a divider to fit into the spot. I am hoping that the extra weight will help a little when the snow falls here in Cornwall Ontario Canada.
