Bodies and kit-cars

Are there any kit-cars designed for using a Ranger-frame? Seems like it would be a good idea. I've heard several people mention it, but have never actually seen it for myself.
The kit-car industry is not what it was in the 70's. All of the kits that were not VW Beatle-based (like, not the fake porsches, MGs , Bugattis, and dune buggies) needed an American full-frame car as a base.
Good, used, compact-trucks were not abundant like they are now, so kits were not regularly made for them.
Currently, the stock off full-framed American cars is nearing depletion. So maybe that will change.
You cud probably build some cool stuff , esp offa 2wd Ranger. Good Model A-type or something. I always thought an old 2wd mail jeep was a good start as well, but they are no longer easy to find compared to old Rangers.

Depends on what you wanna build. ANYTHING can be done, ANYTHING can be modded...made to fit, etc. The sky's the limit.

Now...maybe not a model A, but hell...i'm sure as hell that it can be done. Ditch the ifs, throw on a straight axle and one of those transferse mounted leafs up front, shoot....coil the rear, narrow that rear end, use the 4.0L, but boost it. Like I said, anything can be done.

There really isn't a need for a base vehicle to build on anymore, because places that build the bodies, sometimes makes the frames as well. The reason VWs were so popular is because the cars were like 20 years old, still being produced, and can be had for dirt cheap. I still REALLY REALLY REALLY miss my '71 VW bug, w/ a 1927 Bugatti racer body on it. Damn i miss it.

although I can only think of one kit car that's out there for our rangers.....HUMMER kits. somebody post that link!
