Cheap way to make exhaust louder...

I love my Flowmaster, but it just isn't loud enough.... When I get bored I'll unbolt my entire exhaust system and listen to it idle because it's just too loud to drive

So I'm thinking, what if I bought some new bolts that where the same guage but and inch or two longer, threated the bolt through the first flange, and then added two or three more nuts, and then thread it thorugh the other flange and finally through the last nut so there is a gap about 1/2" between the cats and the exhaust.... And I could adjust the two nuts in the middle to adjust volume.

What do you think? Would I get a lot of power loss? Not much to start with from the 3.slow but I got the go ahead from the misses for a 5.0 swap so it's only temporary!

Keep in mind that the exhaust temp coming out of the cats can easily exceed 1000F. I wouldn't want that blowing on the bottom of the cab or on anything else under the truck!

Take that muffler off, add a pipe with a turn down before the axle..

It's a 94' so if the B-Series are the same as my Ranger his o2 sensors will be in the downpipes.

I agree with rwenzing, that'll melt/ignite something after a while

Here's another vid of open exhaust:

Though I think I'm going to put a Flow 40 on because it lost me 1 mpg and I can't hear myself think in the cab.

What amazes me is they can find a shop to do it! I had to search to get a shop that would run true duals on my Roady as "it didn't have true Duals from the factory" Heck I need new exhaust on my GMC and I went in to get an estimate, and they said they had to put a CAT on it. I said "Why?" Becasue its a '77, and anything newer than '76 had a cat from the factory" I just shook my head and laughed. '77 trucks never had a CAT to begin with they were exempt. I have the original exhaust on their. That's how strict they are here.

my flowmaster sounds louder on my 3.0, kind of weird since you have a 4.0. but that doesnt sound too bad.

i ran no muffler for a good six months and i had no problems, other than a little black residue under the cab. turn down fixes that.

I was just gonna suggest that! Turndowns will help alot. I had them on my old 94 mustang gt... even with 3 chamber flows, it was deafening. You should be happy with that.
were your mufflers welded in, or is it a complete system? If it's a bolt in, just unbolt right after the muffler.
