custom key fobs :)

I was reading the last issue of OR magazine and they had this company called US Speedo, they make these key fobs for all kinds of vehicles, guess what? they work on rangers :)

That's kind of cool. Not sure if they are worth $25 bucks. But still cool.

I think Cabela's has camo overlays for Ford key fobs. Think that's where I saw them.

i saw them at bass pro shops too....

Just a quick question on these, once you open these key fobs up do you need to reprogram them since the battery is disconnected?

no you do not. i had mine apart today to figure out that same question

I like the camo also.

Key fobs are manufactured with a "unique ID" flashed into them. They retain that unique ID even without power.

When you "program" your remotes you don't do anything to the remotes -- you simply teach your truck which unique ID's it should pay attention to. When a remote transmits it identifies itself with it's unique ID, as well as a command signal. Once your truck has been programmed, it knows which ID's to pay attention to, and which to ignore.

In actual practice, there's not an infinite supply of ID's, so it's possible for someone elses remote to open your vehicle -- but it's pretty unlikely.
