Custom made bed cover

Im going to be making a bed cover. Im going to make the frame out of thin square tubing and then sheet metal over it. The only thing im not sure on is how im going to do the lock for it. Any ideas or pics? This truck looks like its similar to what im going to do.

my guess is a locksmith type place that specializes in locks... or go by a place that sells bed covers and caps...

I looked all over the internet no luck finding one.

My guess is to call a manufacture of bed covers such ans Undercover Lund Snugtop ******* and ask if you can buy replacemnet locks

The ones on my cover there was just a hole there, and you hade to insert the lock after it was painted.

what about a hardware store? get a lock that is for a cabinet and make it work. probably be alot cheaper then getting one from a manufacturer.

A bit off topic, but did you ever put a fuel cell in your bed or are you still running with the factory tank in the bed.

Are you any good with fiberglass? Personally, I'd build it out of a sheet of foam and fiberglass. Lighter and at least as strong, if not stronger. May cost a little more and is a little more labor intensive. Worth it IMO, though.

As far as the lock, garage door locks work just the same but if you cant find a kit get a lock like is used to lock cabinets and put some arms on it.

Thats the way mine is I have one in each corner. When you turn the key it moves a arm under a peice of metal attached to the side of the bed
