In Dash Mount MPG or km/l LCD
Hello I'm new to the Ranger Forum. You can check out my profile for a couple pictures of my truck.
I've had an idea for a while but don't know how difficult it would be to pull off. I have a 2010 Ford ranger with the digital in dash trip and odometer screen underneath the tach. There is another unlit oval underneath the speedometer that I would love to fill with a MPG or in my case a digital km/l gauge like the one underneath the tach. Am I out to lunch or is it do-able? Any ideas. This won't work for the guys with an automatic but possible for the 5-speed owners.

I've also been on here and really like the looks of Tys 4x4 FTW bumper. I decided to model up a variation and wondered if you guys like it?

I've actually had this same idea. I don't think anyone makes anything small enough... you'd have to custom-build something. There are plenty of displays out there that are small enough to fit under the speedo... but the challenge is designing the controller to drive it and fitting said controller into the cluster.
Just thinking out loud but would it be possible to get another trip odo like the stock one on the left and place it in the same position on the right. I know the right oval is slightly larger but that was my first idea.
All you need to calculate MPG is engine load or speed and the MAF reading correct?

Im not sure where all the idiot lights are located on these trucks cause i have an 03 but that square between the tack and speedometer looks like a good place to put an explorer trip computer wich will hook into your 4.0 computer with no problems itll give you MPG DTE and a couple other features youd just have to make a spot to mount the swith to cycle through the screens. Just a though though.
