Hand Throttle Mod

well since i unplugged my IAC cause i hate the way it drives with it plugged in (hanging RPM's) it idles around 400 RPM's when its cold since the IAC is what kicks it up. well i wanted a way to up the throttle with out having to sit in the truck when its cold. so i did this. it is also nice to have when u need to clutch brake and gas at the same time....like going up hills or rocks off road. and when i get my winch hooked up ill be able to kick the idle up and stand out side the truck. i can go all the to WOT. it also kinda acts as a cruise control. i fixed the shift boot since these pic's were taken. over all cost me about $15 bucks to do. what do u think?

LOL

They look good.

You don't need to over compensate. Not everyone has the cash to get the fancy cameras. At least you were smart enough to get the pics to work......I've seen some epic fails in here when it comes to posting pics....LOL

Crazy mod BTW!!

ya it is deff worth it...overall it was like $5 for the bicycle gear shifter, $4 for 6ft or derailer cable, and $5 for 5ft of derailer cable housing.

Can't tell form the pic, but does your hand throttle move when on the gas pedal?
I used the beaded pull cord stuff on my TJ so that the hand throttle is only a "pull" and not "push" cable. Use it as the last 3 inches or so attached to the bike brake/shifter cable.
Not sure if that makes sense, but it only works when I pull the hand throttle.

no the hand throttle doesnt move when i am on the gas, the cable under the hood just curves a little. the hand throttle is stiff so that way it stays where i put it...that way i can get out of the truck and it stays at the RPM i set it at...sometimes when im on the gas the cable in the hand throttle comes out a little because there is slack, the the lever doesnt move...

Just remember if you start going down a hill or something it will accelerate since its in the same position as if you were going straight. So its not really cruise control at all

Id probably just leave it set for 30 on the throttle position. Cuz thats normally what i try to keep it at when im driving on the highway

Don’t do that man, it sound good but remember a cruise control will disengage when you hit the brake and this one will just keep pulling; not good.

As others have stated it is a good idea for trail work and winching.
Nice setup with the Bike Shifter Cable.
