1a. take reg cab and camper covered bed, cut off back wall of cab, front wall of bed, brace it, seal it, unify them, make some kind of van/suv/truck combo.
1b. same onlywithout camper cover, somehow fab up either a sloping rear window into the bed, but not all he way down (hard to explain that image) or replace the back of the cab wit the hatch from an explorer, so like the back of the cab could open into the bed.
2. drop an ex cab onto a frame from a reg cab short bed, but trim the short bed to fit.
3. Ranger front end on an explorer? seen it done in reverse, but i like the front end of a ranger better than the expo one.
4. mount a 4 light light bar in place of a third brake light, make the "rise" or "hump" of a camper cover look a little less awkward.
5. make the tailgate work like the ones on honda ridgelines, that swing open to the side, OR down normally
random crap i thought of, that i dont have the money, tools, time, experience, knnowledge, or ability to do, but that i think'd be really cool

the exploder front on a ranger has been done. i remember seeing pics online of a red flareside once.
the "passthrough" idea has been done on lowriders. alot of guys do it for the sound systems. creating a cutout for the sub enclosure.

crappy pics below but it gets the point across...lol...

Yeah I know the exploder front on a ranger has been done but I think it'd look better the other way
That chopped look was kinda what I was thinking
And I don't theink it'd look that awkward at all, if I could shoop it for ya I would, but I can't photoshop at all.
And yeah I love that idea.
Amd I thought of another idea, make a cloth-roofed camper cover, that works kind of like a tonneau cover, with removeable braces (and the rear one would have to hold the rear glass too) so if you need the headroom, its simple to get it, but you can still get the slightly better mileage as well as keep the contents of the bed dry if they need to be

Got another good one, and one I could definitely actually see being done. How about a full sliding rear class? Like if you were to take a solid rear window and have it slide up and down into the back wall of the cab? I don't know how much you'd have to do to make it work, but it'd be cool to have
im not sure if it would work but you could get the rear window mechanism, and the back glass, out of a sport-trac, and try it with that, because all the stuff is there, it would just need to be put into a ranger, and i would thing it would fit right because its out of an expo.
