instrument cluster

Im wondering if the instrument cluster from a 2005 ranger would work in a 1999 ranger?

Smakes 08-11-2009 10:47 PM

clusters from 95+ are interchangeable

dan24 08-11-2009 11:00 PM

right on, so its nice and easy?

Smakes 08-11-2009 11:01 PM

should be plug and play

TheStig88 08-11-2009 11:17 PM

i thought it was 95 to 03 that were compatible....

if true then 99 in an 05 won't work

dan24 08-12-2009 12:02 AM

hmm,
I have no idea at all. So i will just wait for someone to make a dominate answer :P lol

4LO 4.0 08-12-2009 02:59 AM

Nope, won't work.
after 2003 ford changed the pin outs, so it won't plug in

95 to 03 are the only clusters that will work for you.

dan24 08-12-2009 08:02 PM

greeeat thanks man
saved me the mass confusion

Yes it will. It will just require alot of splicing wires and if I remember correctly there is no way of making the odometer work.

Stigg, are those blue lights on your cluster aftermarket? Cause they look great.

I would totally consider doing that to my 09 4x4. I think the lights on the door panel window switch and lock/un-lock would look out of place. Unless they could be changed to a blue LCD as well.

Do you think it's possible?

hotrod_991 10-04-2009 04:24 PM

yea the blue light look really good you do that yourself or is there a kit for it?

Smakes 10-04-2009 04:35 PM

you have to sand off the overlays and put in blue leds or paint the overlays blue

Glass paint is what most people use, can be found at most hobby shops.

ace of texas 10-20-2009 11:30 AM

mitchell561 10-27-2009 05:58 PM
