Lets make more room in the ranger

Lets face it the extended cab seats dont provide enough room for some one to sit comfortably in the back. Having a truck that only sits two people sucks. I want to be able to sit 3 people facing forward.

We need to colaberate and find a way to make this happen all ideas will help.

My first idea: I was thinking that you could get racing seats up front because that would give you a lot more room because racing seats are skinny. I was thinking that it might be possible to mount a small racing seat that would sit in the middle of the back facing foreward. if it was pushed as far back as it would go I think you would have enough leg room. I would also make a console that sits farther up and would allow for even more leg room.

Let me know what you guys think. I am thinking this is going to be my next project for the ranger. It would be sweet to sit three people comfortably because no one wants to ride in the crappy little back seats. Either way lets thread this up and see if we cant make a sollution. Or maybe someone has allready made one

yeah those seats do suck, I only know one person who likes to sit in them and I don't understand why she likes them so much.

With the racing seats, you might even be able to put a bench seat back there.....maybe, might still be a little tight

That's why we got the Ford Freestyle. You could seat a small army in there!

i think the best mod for making more room would be the 99cent mod.

i wouldn't complain, some people just wish they had an extended cab.

i remember when I was little my dad had an 80 somethin dakota that had a bench seat in the back, you could try something like that. I think the racing seat idea would be pretty sweet.

The racing seat idea is definately worth a shot.

I thought about this myself. What if you were to take a junked ranger and cut off the extended cab portion of the junker and put it on your ranger.

In simple terms doubling the extended cab. It might just work. Although youd lose some bed space but itd be cool to see done...

As far as the racing seat idea, I've seen it done and the third seat doesn't get much width on the legroom. DrivAPrerunner's truck has this done, but there's also a cage in there and I didn't notice how much room that ate up that could be used to reposition the seat. Anybody sitting in the third seat would have to keep his/her legs tight together, which gets uncomfortable before too long.

man, if your goal is to have 3 adults facing forward......sell the ranger. pretty much gotta go full size/midsize. Or..........drive south of the boarder, pick up a good 4dr crewcab ranger cab, and convert your truck. I'd prob just get some brat seats and mount 'em in the bed.

Well im six foot and I think that there would be enough room back there, if the passenger seat was as far forward as mine, to have some leg room. The ranger is the truck I always wanted. It will be a long time before I have the money to go full size, but for now i plan on making one sick *** truck if you know what I mean. After I get my windows tinted this weekend then I will be done with exterior mods for a while. Then I plan on making a go at the interior of the truck. I would have to go ahead and put in the racing seats and see how much room I was left with.

fyi.....those APC, sparco, etcseats......are quite uncomfortable for 1 hr and longer drives. A buddy of mine has some racing seats in his new zuki' sammy.....he's actually buying my '94ranger buckets to throw in it.

I would say either go south and gt a 4dr ranger, or like stated above, graft in another extended cab portion, just another 6"-8" not te whole thing, so most of your bed is still there....that would be sweet

When I need more "room" I remove the passenger seat, you can lay a 5' 10" person down, in an L and with enough padding be comfortable.... oh wait.. we're trying to fit multiple people...

Errmm... I've only gotten complaints on the bucket seats for long drives, and offroad.

Oh and the dangling medical bag in the back that hit's their head dosn't help either...

Need something with a bit more padding on the seat, and probally another 5-10 inches on the back of the seat...

I've halled 4 people in my truck before, 2 adults 2 children.. and a dog... so 5...

3 up front and two in the back..

50lb dog.

unless youre really really short, i dont think you'd be able to move the seats up far enough to be able to get a forward facing seat with any kind of legroom in the rear.

You'd have to add to the frame, replace/lengthen lines, longer drive shaft. It really wouldn't be worth it.
