Yeah that is all you'd have to worry about really is extending the wires and vacuum lines. Good luck evan

Depending on where your moving it, i dont think you'll need to extend the wires.

yeah, he'll need to extend them, they have barley any slack(enough to pull unit from dash). Thats a simple job though. The vacuum lines might be a little different. I'm sure it'll be doable.

The vent position switch is vacuum driven. I agree, he most definitely would have to extend both the wire harnesses and the vacuum lines to make them reach the center console.

I think this is VERY doable... Just make sure you take your time and get a good seal on the vacum lines... Trouble shooting a vacum leak really sucks!

id go to a junkyard and grab another set of vaccuum lines from another ranger so they are the same colors, they buy some fittings to put the two lines together and tada, theyre extended and still the same color. but thats if you can get them out in the length you need them. worth a try though.

i think he wants to move them to the center console so he can utilize the previous spot on the dash for something custom, just a hunch

Ya i moved 'em. I had to extend the factory wiring harnesses 12" and got lucky and could re-route the vacuum harness to reach. But yes the vacuum lines have a very small inside diameter and i couldn't find any fittings small enough at home depot or lowes so i just re-routed it.

alrighty check this out..moving the controls is the least of my problems now...i got that under control..

i wanted to move the controls in put my CD player in its place...but its not that easy..my CD player folds down...
This is the CD player that i got now.

but it doesnt fit all the way so im gunna have to do some trimming..but then i came into the problem that i gotta do alot of trimming cuz when it folds down it sits bout a 1/4" lower so which means im gunna have to cut out a quarter inch more then normal..then when the CD player is up..you will see that quarter inch that i cut out...

there has to be an easier way to do this..but i have no clue on how to...

That's an eclipse right? Damn those are nice units.

Jey, can we see some pics of how you re-routed your vacuum lines and where you put your A/C controls? If my CB will fit in the A/C spot I'm definitely doing this.

Here you can see the vaccum lines running from the console into the dash, it has the grey insulation surrounding it.

would changing the diameter of the tubing do anything? I mean the whole length not have two sizes in one length of line.

Yes if you increased the size it would decrease the vacuum or pressure. I wouldn't try it.

Get a piece of rubber type stuff, flexible enough that the face plate of the headunit could compress it down. Cut it to fit in the last 1/4" and find a way to stick it in there so that with the headunit up it would cover the gap...
