Moving axle forward = Moving tank forward?

Ok. so i want to move my rear axle forward 5-8 inches. however we all know the gas tank is in the way.. i really dont want to deal with a fuel cell idea or different tank in the bed. and ppl always talk about loosening tank straps and stuff.. would it be possible to move the tank forward say 5 inches by moving the tank mounting system forward? any ideas for this would be appreciated!! also anyone have any driveline ideas for an axle moved up 5-8 inches?!

thanks
-Carl

Just a idea but how about going with a rear mount system? Like where your spare tire would be! Use a gas tank out of a taraus or something?

I wouldnt put it there (where the spare goes) because all it takes it one dent or rock and you have a hole in it..the easy way is to get a fuel cell..you wont have to worry about it just put it in the bed or get a custom one made to fit into another location..

gas tank/fuel cell in back = BAD IDEA!!! why do you think all those police interceptors blew up?!! cause the tank was in the back!! very vulnerable, not gona happen... anyways... i really dont have the funds for a fuel cell at the moment. this i kind of a temporary fix. (moving the tank forward 5 inches).. so do you think thats possible?!

My bad didn't even put that into consideration, moving it 5 inch's would put it under the cab right? I could be wrong but to place it there it would have to be quite a bit lower which would also be bad? Although im guessing if your thinking about it youve already checked it out.

slap it in the bed -- or find something else with a smaller better shaped tank to put in the bed for temp use..

Why not just mount it in the bed temporarily? Alot of tacos do this when 4 linking it. Then, when you can afford a fuel cell, it will be an easy swap

your bed is the best bet, it wont get smaked when your wheeling, butit will throw ur center of gravity that much more. cutting and extending the lines wont be hard. you can just use some sainless tubing and use them as couplers liket hey do on the bodylifts, but it will be for your fuel lines. then you cna use your stock fuel filler system and put the mouth and neck in your cage. that would be pretty rad
