Chatter when first moving forward
Chatter when first moving forward
Hello
I get chatter/vibration when I go from stop to moving forward such as at a stop light. I have an automatic transmission, 4x4, 4L, 2002, and ext cab. The chatter seems to be worse when I start off into a turn. It also seems to be getting worse with time. I used the truck to plow my driveway this past winter with a light weight snoway plow. I had no problems doing this. I am trying to figure out what can cause the chatter and then have the problem checked out. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Not an automatic trans guru, but it could be torque converter clutches are slipping on lockup.
When you come to a stop the computer unlocks the torque converter, when you press down on the gas pedal computer locks it up again.
Could just be time for a change of filter and fluid in the trans.
If it only does it on start up turning then it probably isn't a Trac Lok differential issue, the Limited Slip differentials require an additive, or oil with additive already added, so the clutches can slip a bit when turning.
Without the additive you will get chatter when turning at lower speeds.
