Need 'Red Neck' Cruise Control ideas
Welp, I'll be going 2,500 miles starting next weekend, and don't have cruise on my truck. Looking for any ideas on keeping the go pedal where I want it, to get us through. I have a 36" Mac prybar that I can probably work with my hand lol
What ideas do you have? (short of dropping $200 for the factory swap)

The only safe way to do it is drive with your feet... if you use a solid object to hold the gas pedal, it could get stuck and if you have to brake suddenly, well... you're going for a ride....
Just stop every couple of hours and walk around for a few minutes. You could also try to switch feet every now and then to give one leg a rest. I've done that before on long trips.. takes some getting used to, but it's safer than holding the gas pedal with a prybar.

I used to long distance drive a Saturn with no cruise (12 hrs. each way, over a long weekend, 2 or 3x a month). Rest your foot on the gas and the tunnel. Not really "wedge" it but use the tunnel as a point of foot contact.
I would also suggest a selection of shoes. I've found that changing from sneakers to a hard sole shoe helps.

Good point Earl. When I drive my truck, which is a stick, I am either wearing steel toe boots or sneakers. I much prefer to drive any vehicle with my boots as they have a harder sole and absorb much of the flex a light sneaker will give you, which ends up tiring your feet out and making them sore. Also with the harder/heavier footwear, you are using less effort on the pedals, decreasing fatigue on your feet.
