Oh lord...Swoop is posting a crazy idea! Please give me an opinion...

ok...so I was thinking about exhuast...

I've always loved the Dodge Lil Red Express truck with the stack exhaust, as well as the Black Widow with the same.

I have the Splash bed, but a hard tonneau cover. I was toying with the idea on my LAST Splash to run stacks up and out the bed, and cut them off at the cab roof.

Now, before you all go saying it's "Redneck" or "Hick", It'd be a very well thought out idea.

Now, I have a hard tonneau cover on it, so I wouldn't be able to open/tile the tonneau, right? Well, I considered making it like a lift-off hood on 4-rails...I could lift it up and down and have it on a set of springs.

Trying to picture it in my head and it looks decent and would definately be different. Can't tell if it'd be TOO much different.

Just tossing it around in my head. What you think?

go for it. I'm a fan of smoke stacks, on anything.a hard tonneau would require an oval shaped hole. Then when you lift the end up, it'd still have room to move

True, but then I'd have alot of water in the bed and junk when it rained. I am sure I would still get some seepage in there anyhow -- and I havent figured that out yet. Possibly I could make a like, channel, for the water to extract itself. I don't know...the possibilities are endless.

Heck, I could even run them on the outside of the truck where the bed meets the cab.

Most likely I'll run it out the side with a set of P*****e tips...oops, I told a secret!

Adamitch..........DO IT! I love the idea. Smoke Stacks are a rare site on a ranger. Personally i have only seen a few. I think it will be an awesome idea. I like the part where it raises up like a lift off hood on 4 rails. Might also help with water leakage aswell. And to put it to rest (atleast from me) twin stacks dont make you a redneck. thats just steriotyping(sp) and thats wrong anyway! So i say DO IT!

Edit: was on College Humor.com after i posted the above and happened to stumble on the following:

i think would look nicer through the bed!

Another Edit: Again from college humor.com

This ones for you adamitch and for LEO! Although leo i wouldnt recommend the stacks or the air horns or anythign aftermarket on that car for that matter!

I think having something like those pipes Zach posted run along the sides of the truck like the old shelby cobras would look cool as hell. But as smoke staks, I think it would look better on a larger truck, not one of our size. If you decide to go through your hard cover, you have to worry about burning or blistering the paint from the heat of the exhaust.

Well, you will be noticed that's for sure. The tone will probably be louder than a flowmaster, but it may not be deep (at least thats how the rangers sounded in panama that had this done)

Does the 4.0 even have enough to fill those stacks or are you just gonna loose all your low end power.
