Probably not a new idea, but...

In the next few weeks, I want to add 110v power to my truck, but somehow, keep a stock appearance.

I gots the tinkeritis pretty bad since I got my truck back up and running. Fixed most the little things (dash lights, cruise control buttons, shifter play), and my hands are buzzing!

I plan on disassembling my center console to check what kind of room I have in there to mount a small 100-300w inverter.

Plugging one of these into it:

I may need to trim the thing or add a spacer collar to the surface. We'll see how that goes. I plan on mounting it going out the back. All relative to how that support is situated inside and the space it leaves me.

I want to wire it up to an "acc on" circuit instead of "constant on" (like my cig lighter/power ports are) just in case I get the bright idea to leave something plugged in and walk away for hours.

Secondary would be to utilize the 2x USB charging ports on that inverter using this:

I would mount at or near (likely directly above the 110v plug) on back of the console.

Not needed, but they're there...just begging to be used

Tertiary is to add a front USB port from my stereo unit using this here:

As it is meow, I have a USB connection via rear wire that sits in my glove box. This would eliminate the "chore" of reaching over to open the glove box to change the thumb drive or plug/unplug my phone.

Two mounting possibilities: drill through my existing bezel (possibly right above the stock fog lamp switch location that may be there later...another project) and snap it in or grab a piece of flat ABS, trim to fit the space under my stereo, and have room for expansion for future devices and stuffs.

I WAS thinking on a console mount, but I thought about debris getting into the USB slot and fudging up the works. It needs to be vertical-surface mounted and accessible. Mounting inside the armrest storage seems blah to me.

I work for a boat manufacturer, so these ideas kinda spilled over into my truck

I'll take some pics of the work when I start. Maybe a YouTube video...we'll see.

What center console do you have in your truck?

40/40 buckets. It's mounted to the floor...not the seat like in the 60/40 deal.

So you see my concern about space limitations inside the thing. I've seen drawings of the support structure inside, and I may be able to mount the inverter in a gap, but the rear and the actual plug...may take some more planning if the measures don't allow it.
