Ranger/Explorer 8.8 Rear End Swap Kit
Ranger/Explorer 8.8 Rear End Swap Kit
Does anyone make a Bolt-in Kit to Swap an Explorer 8.8 Rear End in place of the stock Ranger rear end ? I know a lot of people modify the Explorer to fit but its a little trouble to figure out what must be done. Then you have to buy the spring saddle brackets, shock mounting brackets , and then find a Welding shop that you can afford. If their is any interest I would like to develope the kit. Hubert Craver
http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/ sells a kit. kinda it comes with the u bolts and spring perches, im not sure about shock tabs, but besides that and dealing with the brake lines, and getting the stuff welded on im pretty sure its just a swap
As someone seriously considering the axle swap to improve my brakes, I'm interested in my options kit-wise as I don't have welding ability and the one person I would take this to is very busy and doesn't have the time. Granted, I'd prefer welded over bolt on any day.

Whata need a kit for? It's a SWAP-IN, you can use the stock shock mount location on the frame with the Explorer U-bolt brackets.........I seen it done on a mid-late 90's Ranger............I elected to move mine for personal reasons, I don't much care for the cross shock setup.
Here's mine:

I'll see if I can find the pic of the one with em in stock location......

nope, tried it..
the flip kit was designed for a 28spline axle, not an explorer 31 spline..
So its not wide enough
however Superlift's explorer lift USED to have a flipkit for the axle, but now the kits come with leafs

how do you get more power and mileage?
