Roof Rack

i want a roof rack...i wanna make my own....i can weld...make it out of aluminum....like 1" inch tubing..i can design it...but i dunno how to mount it to the roof im not that big on drilling holes in my roof....so i was thinkin og somethin like the KC mount for the roofs get to then mount the rack to that...so this is just an idea...


now discuss....

if you want it to be stable and have the ability to carry a decent load you are going to have to drill into the roof

Thule or Yakima bases. no drill, and plenty strong.

They are the best most secure system, Yakima gets my vote. They are lockable so no one can steal them, Only problem is they are pricey

you could just fabricate your own system, comparable to them...

all it needs to do is fit in the rain gutters...

then, your whole system is locked in, by the doors. if you have 4 doors...

don't use aluminum.

use steel. and bedline it.

mine is bolted onto my roof.

my next one, will be in the gutters..

to keep me from having to drill into the roof... and locking it.
