shift lock safety switch

Hello all.

well i wired in a brake light kill switch a while back and was looking to do something similar.

i assume one of the wires that comes from the brake pedal switch goes somewhere that controls the shift lock (cant shift out of park without checking brake). i want to install a switch in this wire to disconnect it when i want. This should leave the shift lock on and in effect not allow the vehicle to be shifted out of park.

i wanted to do this so i could flip this switch and leave my truck idling without having to worry about someone jumping in my truck and taking off. put the switch in an inconspicuous location of course.

i cant find my wiring diagrams right now, but does anyone see any reason why this wouldnt work or would be a bad idea?

What my alarm does is when the truck is running you press the remote start button and it lets you take the key out while leaving the truck running. If you press the break it will kill the engine though, maybe you could do something like that?
