A SVT Ranger idea...

So I work at a desk job on the phone for 8 hours. I get bored and thought what if Ford were to make a SVT ranger that had aggressive styling, low stance, big wheels, and lots of power and torque.

I drew these up (2D) and then started digging through Ford SVT vehicles and dug up a Ford Lightning Bolt. VERY IMPRESSIVE, but too high, and a supercharger, FOR WHAT?! They stuck a 5.4 in it, thats plenty.

Anyways, here is the design. It would require some fiberglass work, but it would be easy to style.

Ford already attempted it and decided not to do it. it has the lightning 5.4L supercharged v8.

I seen it. sits way too high, no sport design... its a truck with a big engine.

The x-cab paintchop above reminds me of Nick's truck. Nice 2d's man.

And the Ford Lightning Bolt was a "show off what you can do" for the SVT guys for SEMA. No plans whatsoever for production. It was literally all lightning underneath too. Probably being the reason it sits too high too. Lightning wheels are fairly big in a ranger 2wd fenderwell...especially when there's 14" rubber in the back.

I think the IRS is a good idea, but not very functional. With IRS you will never get any kind of traction, and with all the torque youll be snapping half shafts all day long. I.E. 03-04 Cobras

You must not know who NicksterSVT is...

lol. I can't wait til his truck is back on the road. OMG it's so hot. and fwiw, IRS isn't really meant for drag racing, it's meant for handling and yes, the IRS stangs were junk out of the box.

x2! It's truck will be sweet. However IRS if built right can do just about anything, but drag racing is its achilles heel. Though if its built as a track vehicle its perfect. I would never put IRS in my mustang though. SA works perfect for what i need it for and the handling isn't improved enough with the IRS to justify the time, money and work to put it in. When I could spend a fraction of all of that making a live axle handle just as well.

i said Torque though, which compared to a V8, the RX7 has no idea what that is.

i dont know who NicksterSVT.

i know an IRS can be built up, but for putting power down the SA is a waaaaaay better option. Just look at any person running a Twin screw or TT set up in a Stang and 9/10 they would have a SA...just saying

Not always true. Maybe 1/5th of the 03-04 cobra owners swap in a SA. For example lets take the famous "snake bite" He is pushing over 600+ the the rear wheels on a IRS.

If you are wanting to push some serious power with a cobra the IRS will not hold up well which is why you are seeing most with a SA/ 8.8 or other apps.

Also Check out RPS stmitch is doing his own SVT deal with his reg cab ranger. He has a Termi hood, SVT badging looks pretty sweet. Pretty much if you want an SVT Ranger you gotta build it yourself

Wirelessly posted

Well the SVT I drew up would be just the 5.4. Not too much horsepower. And fx I realize some of that (no I didn\'t) this would be like taking my \'99, putting a newer clip on it, molding fiberglass around the tires, slamming it, and updating the interior.

Basically, a truck that handles extremely well, given it has a light ***, and has power to do a 14 sec quarter. Something that looks racy and can hold it\'s own next to the other SVT\'s

Im lowering mine on 17" cobras and have my new edge front bumper. Maybe a powerdome if i can find one. I think it will look (.)(.)

Id be tempted to put "lightning" or "SVT" under Ranger but ive only got a 3.0. And SVT badge + 3.0 = FAIL
