FS: Pioneer Tremor HU - $150 (TX)

The other thread got deleted I guess due to lack of location in the title.

I have a Pioneer Head Unit from a 04 Ford Ranger Tremor 4x4.

It is the 6 disc MP3/CD Changer.

$150

Will this work in a 1998 Ranger?

I don't believe it will work in any Ranger without a Amp/Sub. It's only line output as far as I know.

Judging by the plug on the back, it will work with any 01+ Ranger/Mazda with the same harness.

I would totally buy it if I wasn't so scared of the 6 disc changer getting messed up during shipping, cuz that happened to me last time.

Yes, I believe you must use a amp with your speakers as the outputs are line level. Sub is not required.

It has a "transport mode" FWIW. Not sure the ins and outs exactly but you press a certain button during boot up and you set it in shipping mode and it locks all the moving parts from getting all screwed up in shipping.

This HU will NOT work in any truck unless connected to the tremor amp and sub. Only the previous Tremor HU will work without the sub and still it wont have any bass. I have both styles and had to rewire my sound system with the tremor amp and sub for it to work.

Dammit, this would be nice, as apparently I can't wire a head unit without messing up the power to my headlight switch lol.

Not true. While it may require some different wiring, the radio outputs line level outputs for front left and right, rear left and right, and sub output. All are the equivalent of an RCA line level out on your typical aftermarket stereo except they are in the harness. I know this because I converted those lines going to the line level inputs on the factory amps on the vehicle side of the harness and used them with an aftermarket stereo for the past 6 months. The reason you likely couldn't get it working is the amps in the tremor system are not in the stereo, they are external. You were likely wiring the harness up for use with non-amplified speakers, which doesn't exactly work.

Just noticed your in LC. I am not to far away and I am in Pearland. Either way, even if your not interested in this HU let me know if you need any wiring help and I will be willing to lend a hand and help you get it figured out.

Nah, it's all good. I took the Fosgate headunit out, since I somehow cut power to the switch after installing it. I put the stock 6disc in, and probably will not change it back, at least for a while.
