That thing is way overpriced..

I bought the same truck with a regular bed for MUCH less. Mine has the 4.0, 4x4, reg cab, reg bed, and unbent bumpers. I paid $7000 cash for my truck and it had 57,000 miles on it.

just because it is a 4.0 Regular Cab doesn't make it rare.

the fact that it is a manual and a edge helps a little.

we have an awful lot of 98+ regular cab 4.0 owners on this forum to classify the vehicle as rare.

2001 was the last year for them though correct?

Dunno what the last last year was.

I dont know about you, but this is the first one ive stumbled across f/s since I started looking at rangers again 3 months ago. Also, Its a sohc. If ford did infact stop producing reg cab 4.0's in 01, that would mean they only made reg cab sohc's for 1 year. That in itself makes it pretty rare.

Also, classifing weather it be 'rare' or 'not' based off of a forum is kinda dumb. For instance: There are alot of fx4 level2 twin sticks on the boards. But to find one in your area, will be alot harder.

From what I remember (was inactive till about 3 weeks ago when I picked up my ranger) 4.0L sohc in a reg cab that is manual was pretty damn rare.

All good points. Very true.

I don't think I've seen that combo of Edge, Manual, 2WD, 4.0 SOHC before.

A big X2 ... It's very rare for a Edge to have a 4.0 SOHC especially in a 2 WD. 99% of them have the 3.slow.
If a Ranger Edge has a 4.0 then it was a special order truck.

In 14 months of searching everywhere locally and online, I only found one regular cab Edge 4.0 4x4 manual trans. It got sold out from under me and I found my truck a couple months later. The only downside was that mine is an auto.

Another interesting thing I have seen with Edges and 3.0s in general is some are equipped with 8.8s and others with 7.5s. 2wd and 4x4. I think it has to do with either trailer packages or cab options. Like regular cab 3.0 came with 7.5 and ext. cab or supercab came with 8.8. I have no idea.

That may have something to do with how the truck was originally ordered or what Ford had laying around at the end of the month.. lol

Now, if only they'd take the Ranger and start dropping in those extra (new 302) V8 mills they've got laying around..

Meanwhile at the Big Ford Warehouse in the Antarctica:

Bob: Hey Tom, I was back in section 24B in Warehouse C and I found 400 unopened Explorer 5.0 EFIs sitting on pallets next to all those 02-03 Fx4 Level II twin stick setups we had laying around. What should we do with them?

Tom: Well I did just get a shipment of 400 2001 Regular Cab 4x4 4.0 Ranger Edge chassis cabs that were still in Mexico. Those damn [fill in the blank derogatory term against Mexicans] decided to swap fully built D60s on them!! Lets just drop them 5.0s in those and call it a day.

Bob: Sounds good, where's Pablo at, he's gonna be busy?

I'd put on a body lift, spindle lift, 35's and 4.88's and an Expo rear end with Mustang discs.

Actually, I wouldn't wheel it hardly so there would be no waiting for the 4x4 to pull me out. It'd be a daily driver.

They brought back the 4.0 reg cabs in 06 I believe. I had the dealership here search for an 06 but couldn't locate one. I special ordered an 07 4.0 reg cab 5 speed Sport instead and then 08 was the last year for them. Last time I checked there wasn't alot of 4.0 reg cabs on the forum... I could be wrong.

we had a discussion about it one day in a thread.

the consensus was 01 was the last year for them.

now that you say 06-08 they were optional it makes me wonder though.
