Yea, I think Silver Lake is to blame for the rack and pinion.

Fram, I know lol. Send the motorcrafts with a pack of tubesocks

Welcome to the broken rack and pinion club! Cracking them is way too easy.

Interesting thing I found out over the weekend. Autozone carries motorcraft oil filters and spark plugs. No excuses now dude.

So doing the coil buckets like that will eliminate the bow in the coil that most d30 Rangers have?

Hopefully, because that bow always looks terrible.

Yeah. I know it's okay to run it like that but if it were my own truck it would bug me

Yea, no way around it.

We may even have to notch for my shocks, not sure though

It'll look real clean that way. More like the axle is actually meant to be there. I'm looking forward to see how it looks when the job is all said and done.

Tonight I should have pics of the buckets tacked in.

The idea is the the adjustment brackets will hidden inside the frame rail and the bolt heads will be hidden by the coil, it will look much cleaner like that.

Doing it this way we're actually making it stronger, we'll also plate the backside of the bucket for added strength

Whoa just caught up with your build thread, I like the direction. Couple questions I didn't find in the last 5 pages.

What arms did you decide to use?

What about steering? Using stock XJ tie rods? And are you using the stock track bar mount on the D30?

Are you going to keep a sway bar? I see the stock mounts on the axle, but wasn't sure how they line up on the newer trucks.

What length shocks are you planning to run in the front?

I'm using the Ruffstuff DIY kit for my radius arms

XJ tie rods, adjustable XJ trackbar with the Ballistic Fab adjustable trackbar mount.

No sway bar, but an XJ sway bar fits Ranger perfectly I hear.

Not sure about shocks yet, we need to cycle the suspension first.

Thanks. He hasn't built a 4 seater for himself because he only wants to worry about 1 other person riding with him, but he would build one if someone asked.

Here is a better pic of how I"m able to hide the adjustment brackets.

Tonight we got the passenger side done, tomorrow we'll tackle the drivers side and finish welding and plating the bucket.

I sure hope you make it out to Silver Lake this year as it would be fun to compare setups. Those arms should be nice and allow plenty of flex. I looked at them a lot but eventually decided to build my own. I know for street driving my truck I miss the sway bar. With so much lift it induces plenty of body roll.

I haven't ruled out a sway bar, it's just not planned yet. I'd like to test drive it first

Looks great dude. Love the notched frame, the bowed springs on mine drive me crazy.

I'm sure you probably posted it before, but what coils did you go with?

Man that came out really nice. Looks like it gives you tons of room for adjustment. If I ever do SAS I might have to copy that. The bowed coils always drove me nuts.

Those coils ride pretty well, you will like them. Although they are soft!

I like that frame notch too.

Drivers side frame notch is done and the buckets are plated and welded.

Turns out, Ruffstuff gives you a 1/2" sleeve for a LCA bushing when the hole is 9/16", so that's where the lathe came in

We'll start working on the radius arms tomorrow and hopefully be finishing them Saturday
