Well i've built the frame. I still haven't fit the tarp and added screens but heres what i got so far

first step of the frame

Aw, I was really hoping that you'd do the idea with the tonneau! But it looks like it'll do what you need.

I think it's awesome, Ben. After seeing the homemade tonneau I loved it, and I think this is going to be just as good, it doesn't need to be the prettiest to function, the square frame will give you a LOT more room than the tonneau lean-to.

Look at the original post in this thread, it will have some windows... This isn't the finished project, just some progress.

Yeah thats why i like the square frame idea alot more. Plus it gives me more room to haul camping gear to the site.

love the idea but If i were to do It Id look into some PVC pipeing. That way you can take it apart and put it in a duffle bag and keep it in the truck. But lookin good man.

Well i got it big because i'm going to cut it down and make it form fitting.

12x16 foot tarp $10 :-D

why not just set up a 2 person tent in the bed? Ive done it. A-frame style...
