I should have spent the money on the truck.

bravetitan24 Jan 11, 2015 08:18 PM

I'll have the major work out of the way. Still need more lift and 35s, but that's easy.

Dewey Jan 11, 2015 08:39 PM

Sad thing is we spend so much more time researching stuff than we actually do when we ate completing the mod

RLong31 Jan 11, 2015 08:58 PM

I've been looking at how to do a rear disc brake swap for like 2 weeks now. Just now got everything ordered. It SHOULD take me a few hours to do if I don't run into issues.

Dewey Jan 11, 2015 09:05 PM

Hopefully you dont since I'm going to be doing the same except for using cobra brakes on mine coming up pretty quick. I'm debating if I should try and save the drums or just cut the backing plate off with a torch.

Please let me know if there is anything extra that needs to be done other than the how to states!

RLong31 Jan 11, 2015 09:16 PM

I've already realized the how-to kind of sucks. He skips a lot of stuff, and doesn't elaborate on a lot more. There is a reason it's a multi-page thread on multiple forums.. it's not explained well and people have issues and questions come up. I am going to keep the stock drums and lines together in whole pieces in case I need to put it back on for whatever reason. Cutting it off is not an option for me anyway. And I have 92k on my truck and haven't changed the diff oil, so now is a good time.

Dewey Jan 11, 2015 09:20 PM

My biggest question is how the e brake clips in. mikerider might be able to answer some questions about it. He did a mustang swap too

RLong31 Jan 11, 2015 09:27 PM

Post number 16 here: Started my Mustang rear disk brake conversion Perfect picture of how it mounts w/ the spacer put on.

01RangerEdge Jan 15, 2015 07:05 PM

My plan was always to do the Mustang swap, until I bought my 31 spline

Dewey Jan 15, 2015 07:18 PM

I'll never wheel hard enough to require the 31 spline. I'd have to be 4x4 to even try to

Someday when you crave HP the 31 spline would be nice to have.

I'm planning ahead

Dewey Jan 15, 2015 07:47 PM

When I crave HP, I'll go for torque and drop in a diesel. Then swap to D60 front and D80 rear

Dewey Jan 15, 2015 08:30 PM

In other news, I got my $350 worth of shocks in yesterday. Another item checked off the list!

I'm waiting until I move to an area where a 31 spline L/S axle doesn't cost me $500.

01RangerEdge Jan 16, 2015 04:54 PM

I got my 31 spline with L/S for $200

00GreenRanger Jan 16, 2015 05:41 PM

The cost all depends on location. I know where I am I've seen them go for about 250-350. I got my FF Dana 60 for 80 bucks and my high pinion Dana 44 for 200. Had to travel about 3 hours to get the 44 though

UPDATE TIME!
Had a chance this past weekend and PAINTED my flares black, not plastidipped! Turned out pretty good to me.
Almost 10 years of caked on mud and dirt!

Overall, a pretty productive weekend, but now I'm needing to paint my valence to match. I'm thinking to leave the center insert looking portion between the fog lights red and painting the rest black like I did my flares

Seeing this makes me really want to mod my headlights even more. I think it will tie everything together.

I also R-F'd my computer since I have so many stickers sitting around here

bling bling. wish I had temps to paint shit right now lol

Dewey Jan 19, 2015 01:41 PM

Its nice, mid 70's for a high, with 50's for a low. But we have a big enclosed barn that holds the day temp for a while since I've mainly been painting at night.

INT3RC3PTOR Jan 19, 2015 01:53 PM

nice! yeah its actually pretty mild here right now, 36 but suppose to fall off the table again soon. Was like -25 the other day, so needless to say its like t-shirt weather today :)

Dewey Jan 19, 2015 01:58 PM

Man, I was up in NC a few weeks ago and it was like 22. For a FL boy, that was crazy cold. But I still caught myself walking outside on the porch in a shirt, pants, and socks. It must be because my parents are Yankees

INT3RC3PTOR Jan 19, 2015 05:13 PM

haha yeah I always run outside to do something quick with not much on. like run out quick at night in just yer boxers to plug your truck in. gets yer blood thicker...right?

Dewey Jan 20, 2015 09:17 AM

For my next project, getting all stainless soft lines. Thanks to Ryan, I've got most of the rear figured out, but I need an extended line from the frame to the axle along with a T. Still want to got the front figured out before the spindles go on though. I'd like to have extended lines there so I don't have to mess with bending the hard line, but finding lines with a 3/8 banjo fitting to thread onto a 3\8 hard line is being a pain. Any other help is appreciated. I might have a local place that can make brake lines, but I'm not sure if they can do stainless braided ones

Fordzilla80 Jan 20, 2015 10:32 AM

When I did the spindles on my truck, I unbolted the brake line bracket from the frame, and then put a 3" spacer/bushing/whatever it was called between the bracket and the frame with a longer bolt. Works perfectly fine and the lines aren't even close to stretched at full lock.
