You think YOURS was bad, you should have seen Dave's ( dave01978 ). It was peeling off!

Hmm.. HOPEFULLY it will fair better then that SVT focus you had.

Those are actually ' better then normal '. I'm selective with the pics on those I won't post all the ' failures ' with holes in 1/4 inch steel and stuff.

My same 2003 Terminator/Cobra wheels. 17x9 on all 4 corners. 255/55/17 tires.

Tig is neat. I love the electrode sound. I'm best with a stick, then tig, then mig.

I soldered for a long time, pcb boards and digital logic controllers ( many moons ago ). Tig is NOT that hard ( for me ).

 

Had some help today. Dave/FMD Stopped by. He might have some pics as well. Rear suspension is out. Axle, traction bars and sway bar parts were all sandblasted and had a light coat of rattle-can tossed at them to prevent rusting. I Just ordered a nice differential cover/girdle kit and should be assembling the rear axle this coming weekend AFTER I coat the axle with something.. I need to find RED Bedliner, that would make a GREAT covering for that axle to prevent it from being trashed. I dunno who makes it tho.







My jackstands weren't quite high enough so I took some lengths of that 2x3 angleiron and welded together a small ' frame stand '. It worked GREAT! Held the **** end up fine while we ripped everything out.

A question I do have.. can 4x4's use a 2x4 sway-bar setup? The factory-type sways that Hillbank was selling is ' ok ' but its overkill with my panhard type setup and won't be needed with what I'm doing. I think it would work nice on Daves truck if it will work ( for helping me out , lettin me use his blasting equipment. ).

 

That would be I, the super blaster, all covered in ' black beauty ' sand.. itching and scratching after 3 showers later!

I had a dent in the bed above my gas cap where I backed into the truck with my Quad.

SO, I decided to buy this neat tool. It ' welds ' on a copper pin so a slide-hammer can be used to pull the dent out without having to drill a hole.

It was a downpour most of the day here so I couldn't work outside :( So.. I worked in the garage/shop.

I've also decided to go with Dupont Imron paint. I picked up the primer and the ' activator ' for it today. It was 60$ ( for both ). Gives a full quart ( shouldn't need more then that to do a whole truck.

Their looking into the color charts to mix the color I want for final paint. :) . Everyone keeps saying to keep it all SonicBlue, but I'm sick of that color

You already know what color its going to be. Christian photo-chopped it almost 2-3+ years ago.

Umm.. NOPE. I just saw what it would cost to have someone else fix all the dents and dings and thought I could do it myself cheaper and have the tools and spare cash left over afterwards instead.

The welder/rivet gun with a bunch of the copper rivets was under 100$ at Harbor Freight. I TRIED to find one from Miller/Lincoln but they had NO offerings that I could find.

Im doing this all metal, as little bondo as possible. If theres a small ding, I fill it with .023 wire on a low voltage. It takes time, but I want this done right.

Thats the link to the one I bought at a local store. Its a ' Chicago Electric ' but states ' Made in China ' on it.

The only thing I can offer about it.. Have someone else there WATCHING the person using the gun. You can;t really see the rivet being welded on and you can EASILY burn through the panel your trying to stick the rivet on.. thus requiring a hole to be filled and making it no better then a traditional dent-puller job.

The Copper rivets come off easy enough though. A pair of diagonal cutters and a little force takes the pins right off after they are done being used.

 

Did some more ' work ' today. I learned a few things about painting with an air setup.. much different from a rattle-can.

I ask.. ' What flare holes? ', ' What crease above the gas filler cap? '.















I'd like to offer a great ' Thanks ' to FMD for the loan of those heavy canvas tarps and plastics to cover everything.

I should be spraying the bed its main color this weekend. Dupont Imron paint and primers rock!

I can't wait to have this all together. I'm motivated now so.. things should start moving along more rapidly. I'm gettin real itchy to go stomp the F-out of some rice in big ways and theres NO WAY the Malibu can do it LOL!

I started boxing the rear frame and ran into some unforseen problems, but it should pan-out. I'll be working on that tomorrow after I pick up my mixed paint. They said it should be ready by 1pm.
