My '73 Charger build (For Jake)

Well, I am going to start a thread to update those who might give a damn. For those that don't know the story, I lost a great friend last month and I sold my Impala to buy his Charger that he loved. It was in an accident in 5 years ago and needs some work to get back on the road.
Check out this thread for details:

I will start this thread with my new pics from this weekend.

Wow, that thing looks good for its age. I thought I'd see way more rust. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

This car came from southern California. Never seen salt or winter. It was so darn clean when Jake bought it. It was seriously the cleanest original (it had a repaint but otherwise original) charger I have ever seen. even with the body work it needs it is a great project car.

Oh BTW, I ran the codes on the Data tag and it was originally a big block car (400) which means it has the big block torsion bars already. It might even have a 727 tranny. Big block cars got a 727, but it having a small block I just assumed it had the weaker 904 tranny.

also, I thought I'd share this. When I was tracking the car down, all I knew was he sold it to someone he worked with, and one person said his boss. I Called his last job (he was laid off about 6 mos ago) and the secretary sent me to his boss' voicemail. I left a message with my story and that I was looking for the car.

The boss had no idea what I was talking about, but well he was listening to the voice mail some one was in the room who remembered that Jake sold it to this Ted guy. Well it seems Ted got laid off as well at the same time (union Shop). That started a chain of phone calls that led to the owner. He then called me and Agreed to sell it. If that isn't divine intervention I don't know what is.

Also, I was driving back to MN on friday night to sell my impala. I was doubting whether that was a good idea or not. I really liked that car. Well I saw 7 different Chargers from a 69 to a 73-4. If that wasn't a sign I don't know what is.

Maybe, I am reading too much into it, but I like to think Jake was helping me the whole way.

Congrats on getting the Charger, you made the right choice. I like those Chargers, not felling the color though.

I can't wait to see this thing done. Good luck on the build man! You are quite the friend to be doing something like this. I know my best buddy Dave would do the same for me and my truck, and vice versa.

And like D. said, a 'visit' would be a wonderful end to this story.

318 car?

Careful with the air shocks on those things, they have the tendency to severely damage the upper shock towers that aren't designed to take the entire weight of the vehicle..
