I just got the t-case in today and it's def a 1354, but I'm a little concerned about it might be an electric shift t-case.

I don't see the t-case 'motor' on it, but there is a hole that says 4HI, 4LO, and 2HI on the rear of it. On the front there's like a litte "tab" that I can pull up and down for the 3 positions I mentioned above I'm assuming. I can't get any pics at the time, cuz I'm at work.

Any input?

the rear of the case is all the same, electric to manual.....if on the front there is a little dingy that sticks out by the front output flange, then it is a manual t-case..

Awesome...What kind of fluid should I put in there?

And can anyone tell me what this sensor looking thing is on the front on the case?

there shouldn't be a sensor on the front......but it might be a position sensor.....however there should be a plug near the rear driveshaft output shaft that is for the speedometer in the older Ranger/Explorers ('97 and older)...

Mercron V ATF is the fluid to use...

Is the sensor near the gear selector on the front of the case? More than likely its the 4x4 position sensor, for the 4x4 high and low lights.

Amazing Maurice! lol

Do you have a Ford Manual anywhere? haha Ok, another question... (lets see if you can get this one)

What size bots do I need for the t-case to bolt up to the tranny?

that you should just go to Ford and order them......they are cheap on their bolts and can have them usually next day....

go grab yourself a Chilton or Haynes manual for a '97 or older Ranger......it will help a lot....

I would go to the Ford dealership for the bolts that way you're sure to get the correct ones. Also, I'm sure they have a schematic of the t-case that they could print out for you so that you can refer to it later. If you haven't already done so buy yourself a Haynes manual. They have all of the fluid specs and capacities in there for proper maintenance. Like Lifted said use ATF in the t-case. Now would be a good time to switch to full synthetic fluid.

By the way, it's definitely a manual case. That little lever is the shift lever. Looks like you'll need to remove the end of the old drive shaft on the front yoke. I believe those bolts utilize a 12pt 8mm wrench.

or you can use a Torx bit on the inside of the bolts that way you don't round the bolt heads...

what really sucks is the male torx bolts (the ones were they have a regular socket with the torx internal)......those are what the flywheel bolts are...

Glad to hear you got the driveshaft. I was hoping it would make it there before the weekend.

You'll probably need to extend the slip yoke in the front d-shaft unless you've already done so.

Not really much progress, but I cleaned up the 37's, took off the wheels and tires. hopefully they will be sold tomorrow (at least the tires). I took the bumper back off because there is no way in Hell that I can use the 41's with the bumper.

So it's just chillin' until then. :/

you should move that axle back to where the tire is center of the wheel well while you have it like that!
