So here she is.
My 2004 Sonic blue XLT that Ive owned now for a few years. I previously owned an 04 Pontiac Grand-am. I took it to the dealership for an oil change, and left with this Ranger lol. This truck wouldnt have lasted long on the dealer lot. Multiple people were interested in it. I saw it and said "Gimme that truck....you can have the car" For the record: 2004 Ranger XLT Sonic blue 4.0 SOHC V6 5-spd manual transmission 4x4 8.8 rear end with 4.10 gear ratio. Here she is with 34k on the odo. (NOTE: No, thats not me in the picture) https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 Kept her stock for a good while, then found RF and discovered the wonderful world of modifications. First up was a body lift. The pictures that follow may include a few mods that I didnt take individual pictures of. Body lift, painted running boards and bed rails. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 Headlights and corners https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 Next up was INSANELY DIFFICULT.....jk. Bug guard go bye-bye. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 DRAGON FLY MOD!! +11.7 hp https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 lol. I had to put that one in there. Next up was a custom rear bumper. This is not the finished product (and it STILL isnt finished) https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 For more on the bumper, check out the link below https://www.ranger-forums.com/showth...el+rear+bumper Now here is a mod that you will either love, or hate. I actually think its pretty cool. Ive yet to see one similar. I decided to do this because I didnt have room on my bumper for my plate. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 AAANnnnndd the finished product: Note that these pictures include nightshaded tails. Im actually not liking them much anymore. Im probably going to go back to stock on the tails. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 I always see people's head tilting slightly with a "what the heck?" look on their faces lol. Heres another shot of the rear: And a mud flap delete. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 Bed-lined a small portion of the door. The outer edged of the doors were already scratched up to the point of needing a re-paint. I decided to bed-line them to kill 3 birds with one stone. I am going to bed-line all of the rocker panels, so it will eventually flow together. HATERS 'GON HATE: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 Next up was a Hurst Shifter. BEST MOD EVER for manual us manual tranny guys. I custom made the extension by hand. I sat in the truck, and held just the shift lever in my hand (not bolted or anything) I then took very carefully eyeballed some measurements. Yes, im awesome lol. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 I cut and used the hurst shift boot and stock cup holders. Turned out AWESOME. Behold. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 Next up was bed-lining the rockers: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 I am still in the process of doing all of my rockers. PATIENCE. Purchased a custom made storage box, and installed. HAND MADE BY MIKE (VH5150) Thanks Mike! https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 ^Notice that there is a center console mount. I installed that way earlier, and the center console is installed as well. Lighning style exhaust (with a flowmaster super 10) and a fresh wash. Also minus the front bumper. https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214052 ^^^And this is how she sits today. Mods not pictured: Expo dome light. Expo OHC. Currently working on: Custom front bumper. Wheels and tires. A really awesome center console mod. Much more lol. Stay tuned. |

Purchased these recently:
https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214469 Cragar D-windows. Also: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1339214469 RCD 3" shackles. Im not really sure if Ill use these or not. I might use a different method of rear lift. |
If you decide those RCD shackles aren't your thing, I have first dibs. ;)

Manual 4x4 t-case https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ine=1337798075 Bought this with shift linkage included (linkage is hard to get your hands on) |
My radio bezel is peeling hardcore, so a re-paint will happen soon.
And I purchased a CB radio from Clinton (Hooligan) a while back. Still havnt installed it (slacker) Sooooo Im hoping to be in town long enough to get that done. |
Can you post a vid with the 10? I was thinking about getting one for my truck and running it sorta like you have it. Also, a few pics of the undercarriage where you have it mounted? I'd like to see how it runs under the frame... Looks real good so far. At first, I wasn't too keen on the license plate but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it.

I dissed it in another thread, but question. Was it just the typical edge knicks that we all get?? If so, couldn't you have used something like this (in black):
I took them off to check the condition of the paint beneath them, and decided to bedline them.

Winning!! Happy seeing people save money rather than dump it into a longer arm that costs nearly 100 times as much! lol. When they do that, they were better off just buying the damn F150 shifter! lol.

Truck needs a bumper, otherwise we'll start making fun of you like we do with Demon.
|
^ yup get a bumper made for it.
Good looking truck. what do you plan on running for tires? |

Nice job on the storage boxes, truck looks pretty good, but god damn it I hope you are out of bedliner and there is no way that you can get your hands on any more.
|
The truck looks awesome, very unique. I love that color blue. Your really beating rust to the punch with all that bed liner haha, I might start bed liner-ing stuff on my truck too!
|
Updates Taylor, UPDATES.
|
Truck is looking good Taylor.
|
Sorry folks, no updates. I had other things pop up that needed to be done (getting ready for baby #2)
My wife has been in the hospital for 7 weeks, having my drive back and forth often. After we get back home and settled down, then updates will shortly follow. Thanks guys! |
