Zabeards SAS Thread
I've seen a few topics on PBB.com about getting yota pitman arms off... consensus is that it's a REAL bugger! If you are going to be using a different pitman arm, just cut that one off. Otherwise, put the pitman arm puller on, tighten it down good, and then give it a few whacks with a hammer. Tighten it down again, whack it a few times again, and keep going at it. Heat or PB blaster might be helpful too.

i am glad you are going at it to look almost stock....instead of the leaf spring front end, i think you will like the coil spring front end....and since the leafs never came stock on a Ranger, the coils look a little stock....

I'm trying to rush it. lol ill fix it later if i have to, otherwise if i dont get it on soon i need to dump 500$ minimum into my current suspension. and well that is a waste
but i've pretty much got everything figured out that needs to be until we start.

yea we had it in a vice and the vice was bolted to a 300lb bench...
problem with the torch is we dont want to get it too hot and mess the seals up...
Get a bigger hammer!
Oh and I'd imagine that the shaft the pitman arm slides onto gets larger at towards the steering box itself (the 'top' if you will) so you could attach the pitman arm with some sort of pressure fit in addition to the bolt/castle nut/pin/whatever it is that holds the arm on. Are you going to use a drop pitman arm? Or why do you need to remove the arm?

yea the yota TRE is welded into the end of the pitman arm. we ground the welds off and pulled the TRE out. I am going to try and take a piece of round stock and tapper a hole the size of my jeep TRE and weld that stock into the yota pitman arm.
if that doesnt work then i am back to searching for a pitman arm for the yota box and a TRE that will work.
anyway the pitman arm needs to come out so i can stick it into a lathe and bore the inside clean along with prep it for my piece of stock.
