does the site have one? has anyone ever thought about getting it installed (or whatever it's called)? it would be great to have. i know that some missing kids alerts get posted in the off topic area or in a general topic area, but why not have a special thread dedicated to it?

 

Myspace has one its pretty awesome they do it, i mean EVERYONE has a myspace nowadays.

 

I have the ticker on our FD website. Its just a little java ticker. I'm not sure how it will integrate with forum software since I know nothing about that stuff. But its definately a good idea to try.

its a good idea but its just more work for a mod or another member to have to update it and such. we had a member have a family member go missing a while back and we did it then, but thats because that member posted up all the information

Myspace is a trolling site for pedophiles ! Makes me want to throw away my home PC every time I see one of those shows where they setup the online predators . I have two girls & I think I would hurt someone if they tried that crap on my kids!

 

Thats a good point coming from one of the people who spam the crap out of threads with no useful info .
SO Roach let me ask you this say an amber alert gets posted here and one of our members just happens to see the kid right before there killed or worse and because they see them , that kid gets rescued and the bad guy goes to jail .
Or we dont and that member walks right past not paying them any more attention , and they get raped and murdered , and not only that but the guy gets away and does this over and over , because you didnt want this site cluttered with something usefull ..

I would rather see that the same old thread being poped every other day you know the ones im talking about .what size tires can I fit ? wheres my Tbars , what kinda lift do you guys recomend .

Then set http://www.amberalert.gov/ as your homepage and then come to RANGER-FORUMS

 

Look , this is my problem I could care less if we post an amber alert I already get them and most of all BOLO's and ABP's issued in the State of Texas , my problem is this has come up within the last couple of aurguments over adding stuff to the site , And most of the same people keep shooting it down the same people who junk up threads with crap or post stupid crap on here .

Roach dont take it personal , I was just giving a differant side of the aurgument than your out look , and you came back with a valid point , soonce again dont tak e it personal and it wsant an atack just a differant veiw.

Heres my thing we already have so many useless sections that have nothing to do with the forum , Like the entertainment section , sports section all that , and this was something that could actualy be usefull . But as Is stated it doesnt matter to me either way as I already get them ...

 

why not eliminate some areas that are low traffic and put up something like this?

i don't know if it's been done here, but other forums i've been on, as soon as a car goes missing (yes off topic from amber alert), BAM! thread up. info, location last seen, special markings, that sort of thing.

why not the same for kids? i'm not going to go out of my way to look at the amber alert.com page, but i check this site once a day for any new posts that might catch my eye.

either way, it ws just a suggestion.
