Bulb sizes?!?!
Bulb sizes?!?!
I’m about to yank my hairs out. So everywhere on the web for my 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0 V6 states that for my dome light it needs 912 bulbs BUT for the map light it needs 906.... soooo which is it?!?! Aren’t both words interchangeable?!?! Anyone know the correct one?? I’ve searched all over the place and it’s always both sizes stated back to back and I’m beginning to lose my mind...
Read the package; Sylvania#906 are 9watts & Sylvania#912 are 13watts, both same dimensions.
Others of same size are higher watts & brighter, but melt plastic socket; dont ask how I know.

Cutting to the chase, what are you trying to achieve; brighter more dependable?
There are several different traditional LitBulbs with simular dimensions;
those with lower watts, burn coolar & work in the socket\circuit, but are also dimmer;
those with higher watts, burn hotter, may melt sockets & blow fuses, but for a short time are brighter.
There are several versions of LitDiods\LEDs with simular dimensions, that claim lower wattage +cooler +brighter;
my experience with LEDs is mixed, mostly negative, so I'm skeptical; there's a lot a false claims & bad product on the market;
there well may be some good but likely expensive options, but I can't recommend one.
PS: "Google is your friend" "Bulb Sylvania 904"

I followed using 912 bulbs about a month ago and the bulbs popped the filament within 3 days bought some more 912 and they popped again this time within 2 days AND popped a fuse. So why tf is 912 even stated as a bulb for the dome light if the wattage is way too high? At that point why even state it if the bulb is not compatible what so ever? At this point I’m not trying to achieve anything but a functioning bulb. What would you recommend? 906 or 904 bulbs??
