Editing threads Questions.....

https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...-day-edit.html

In regards to this thread ^ I have some questions.

ok let me get this straight if I make a post. need to edit it. I have 30 days now? or if I am not a contributor I have 1....

so if we are making a Meet thread, and I start it, and need to edit it do to date change or hotel change or participating list? you have 30 or 1 day depending on your status...

are you kidding?! so we would have to ask a mod any time something needs to be edited every time after the limit? or are you just SOL... to bad cant do it? wouldnt this make more work for mods/admins?

what was the problem of leaving the button there which has always been there? same as every forum? take up to much bandwidth to have a button on the page? what in heck is the point of this?

Or like my Body lift thread if we want to add more tech info to it, OR the maximum tire size thread which is always being updated you cant?

how does this help the site, all i see is it hurting!!

please clarify...?

Correct. Christian had it set to infinity. Christian is no longer here, as you may or may not know he sold the site aprox 6 months ago. Zach has been running it for the most part.

Correct .

Yes, it would make more work and I would be happy to field all requests after the time limit has expired. No one is **** out of luck, the intention of the additional pluggin was to be a bonus for people, not to hamper them.

Due to the negative feedback by both staff and a very very small portion of members, the modification has been removed.

However, a limit on editing posts is still in affect. Zach and I will further discuss it but as explained to him and as I explain to you, time limits needed to be put in place due to the malicious acts of a few members. The time limit globally is 15 days.

The point was to be an incentive for subscribers. Only after the installation did I see that editing was infinity. Regardless if this modification was present or not, infinity modding wasn't going to stay. Why? It sucks when disgruntled users come back and modify their posts to disrupt that topic thread. There are ways to go about removing your content if you want it gone, not being malicious about it. in some instances we cannot even restore it. Since it was the game plan of a few members to do this and coincidentally the timing was right, a cap on editing was imposed. This was solely done by me without Zach knowing.

On another forum they suggested starting a new thread, or adding posts to their current one so people could follow along with the build as that is what they love to see. With the method you describe, after 30 days you wont be able to modify it and a staff member would need to help you.

The feature was to be an addition to subs, the feature has been all together removed.
