Editing classified ads!

Editing classified ads!
i dont remember the reason we are not allowed to edit posts in threads we started but it would be awesome if we at least had the ability to edit posts in our classified ads. it would be great to be able to update our posts later on down the road after the thread is posted to add/ remove items that are sold or changed for whatever reason. not really a big deal but kind of a PITA none the less.

Hmm...
Could it be that the post you're trying to edit is over 45 days old? The edit window allowances were changed a few weeks back. Contrib edit window is 45 days, non-contrib is 1 day.
I know on some forums I'm on(Vbulletin too), some sections are uneditable. Could be a change that wasn't discussed between the staff, as I'm too unaware of a change.

If it is older than 45 days, just shoot a PM to a moderator with a link to the thread and what you want the thread to say, and we'll get it taken care of for ya.

No one is BSing. I think its stupid that there is a time limit on updating things especially in the classifieds. That means someone has to dig down in the thread to find an update on something or you have to email a mod. Its dumb

The reason for a post edit time cap is so information can't be deleted of the forum from angry members. Makes total sense, remember when Lifted97Ranger got all mad and deleted all his how-to's?

trent im not complaining but isnt this the comments and suggestions section? just suggesting something that would help us out, as well as the mods/ admin out so they wont have to edit our posts for us after the 30 day time period. by no means did i start this thread to start a pissing match.

The same happened with a former moderator, now former member of the site on his build thread.
Guys...I don't like it either. I have my reasons(classifieds and meet planning threads). I've learned to just deal with it and help the best I can by editing peoples posts who ask me to edit them. It won't be set to no-limit again. Remember, some forums have NO edit options. Once you post it, it's there period.
This is true...but if you click the link, you'll see the window was revised and updated within the thread.

Patrick.....Since every post I read has an edit button next to it, do you have a more recent classified ad that you can hit the edit button and actually use it? This request goes out to others whom have classified ads posted recently too.
The way I'm seeing it is two issues on the table:
1. no edit period in classifieds, yet there's still a button.
or is it
2. the edit window has passed, thus you cannot edit.
