Please remove IMG thingamabob
I dont know what it is, but can we please remove the generator thingy that automatically changes IMG tags to be hosted by RF? kind of aggrevating when you create a new post and want to paste on a few forums you frequent.

We talked about this a little bit a while back and decided not to change it. The fact that the images are not hosted offsite eliminates broken links when people move their images.
With that being said I'll agree with you guys, it's not my favorite way of managing the images and I wasn't a fan when it was implemented. We'll discuss it again and see where we stand but I can't make any promises.

It helps when photobucket or other image sites links go dead, images can still be seen.
Check out threads from years back. Most images are gone, now that R/F hosts the images this won't happen for future users.

Honestly, who cares. If someone deletes there images, it's probably for a reason. And it would be nice to not have to come back to every thread you post in to delete them.
If it's an accident, and someone really wants to see that image they can PM the OP.
There's quite a few pics I don't post on here because I may want to delete them in the future.
If users really want to have RF host their images they can use the forums upload feature. Give us a choice, don't force it on us.

I didn't like it when I first discovered it when I came back about a year and a half ago. Even deleted ALL my attachments/IMG's here when I discovered it. I feel as though I've lost ownership of MY image. I've kept my image uploads to a minimum ever since.
It's one thing if it's a how-to.....that's understandable. But it's a whole other thing for random threads or pictures you wish to have control of. I do see the reasoning behind it....but that ownership thing...
Agreed with 6.2.

exactly, i can see their point in wanting to keep threads like how to's and what not working with their images, but the forum itself has an upload feature. so if you want to avoid missing images in threads like that, require members to use that feature.
I don't see it as an ownership thing.
I was mainly talking about old how to's.
I see your point but once I post an image I don't expect to retain ownership rights over it, it's the internet. Once you post it anyone can copy it and post it somewhere else.

For now it's been removed from all forums except How-To's, Project logs, and Classifieds. We'll let it run for a while and see how it goes, there is a possibility we may turn it back on later.
But for now...
But for now...
That truck doesn't show it's age one bit

your loss, not mine.
go delete all my pictures in my thread. either delete the whole thread, my posts with pictures, or edit my posts to remove the pictures.
since you take away my option to remove them myself by not letting me edit old posts, you have to do it for me. have fun
