Props Explanations ?

Is there anyway to see why a “prop” was given ?

Or is there a way that when someone decide to give one they need to give a reason ?

Just asking, I may have missed something.

Thks Rick, I got the original posting on the Props and it explained what was going on but what I mean is why they were given.

Positive props is for posts you like or for informative posts. Negative props are for posts that are just clutter ir unnecessary.

You dont have to do it all the time, it's just an extra way to show appreciation for a post

From what I can see Pedro you have 23 positive props. Nice work, you'll be an Admin in no time

No there is no way to see who gave them or why they gave them.

so what is stopping anyone from giving neg or pos props for everything? i really fail to see how this system is useful without a way to regulate it?

Your own discretion is the only thing stopping you.

Could the mods move the "+0-" in a different spot I've clicked it a few times on my iPhone when going to reply to a post

It's not something we can move. Rick had a third party developer build the props system and we do not have any control over how it operates.

Its not what decides a members contribution on the forum. Someone could have -25 props and give the most help and info to everyone on the site. It is just something there. You can disable it if you want to or don't like it.

Yes, props can be disabled. Don't like it, don't use it. :)

plus on anyones profile you can see the total negative props they have given ou tand the total positive props. so it would be obvious if you're just a jealous hater. which I guess is the incentive to not do that.

No problem with the system, just wondered if when a props is given an explantation could be solicited.

Thks to everyone for the put.

Another thought… most of the people here like to tell it like it is and encourage others to do the same, so the “props system” is redundant at best.

Just my opinion… (tell it like it is) why did Rick spend the money for a system that is a cover up for an opinion.

Again thks for the comments and for listening.

Its great system for people who have just joined the site and post a thread like
"I just joined because my truck just died" and somebody replies, with the props you see that this guy actually has something ok to say and its not just crap to clutter the thread.

Just deal with it or disable it, it's not a big deal.

If you don't like it don't use it. Disable it. Simple as that.
