When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
Recently we have had a few members who received private messages asking them to contact somebody who is trying to sell an item. This is a proven scam, and the user will take your money and ghost you. Do not respond to any of these users, and do not click on any links they provide. Instead, please report their message so that the moderation staff and/or administration can ban the user.
Before reaching out to an email or a user who has messaged you, please do a Google search for their name and see if their profile name or email has come up on any other forums. This can help protect you from getting scammed by repeat scammers.
Thank you.
Example of message:

What was their username? Did this scammer reach out to you via a private message?
I did a quick google search for that email and it returned a few results from other forums this scammer has posted on. I found two usernames from those forums that were also on this forum, and both of those accounts have been permanently banned for scamming.

Don't ask me why I spent all this time on this. Too much coffee today I guess...
The person he referred me to refused to confirm his identity and refused to send a geotagged photo.
First thing was the bad grammar. And not bad "American" grammar if you catch my drift.
This was the item he sent me a picture of. He states he lives in Iowa but I found this item on sale via a reverse image search in Edmonton, AB. He said his "secretary" bought it from there.
The PayPal address to send money to was ghsj3879472@hotmail.com. PayPal indicated that it was a scam and associated with a Jeena Kobayashi (supposedly the wife of 71 year old Steven Miller in Iowa with a secretary...). The phone number he used to communicate was 313-356-5032 (a Detroit area code).
It's amazing the effort they will put in for $150. Be careful friends.
