SanDisk Compact Flash Memory Card review
So right now I'm battling bronchitis. I caught it early this time around, as opposed to when it snuck up on me and knocked me on my butt back in Oct. But anyhow I'd been taking a combo of meds left over from the first bout until I could get into an urgent care clinic yesterday -- symptoms started Thursday with a sore throat. So how does this relate to the title? Will even farther back, like oh Sat Feb 10th, I was doing a program for work and took photos with my new SanDisk Ultra II 2.0 GB CF card. Best Buy had a rebate sale on them, $79.99 + $20 rebate. Well I keep forgetting to get the photos off of the card so I brought it to work with me yesterday. I again forgot to get the pics off of it and last night I washed the damn thing! I accidentally left it in my jean's pocket when I did laundry last night. I'd been brain farting all day between the head & chest congestion and meds so this was the icing on the cake. The card was not in its protective carry case, and not that it would have mattered anyhow. So the card went through a cycle of coloreds (warm water) and a 60 minute cycle of drying (whites & coloreds setting = high heat). Aside from the card having a slight odor or Cheer Original with Color Guard and Downy Mountain Spring fabric softener it still works! The card still freak'n works!
so yeah, thought I'd share a left-handed, sick & drugged up, congested to hell, brain farting moment that didn't end in disaster.

could be the fact that the card uses electricity to set the bits inside the memory. I bet if u hit that card with a lil bit of static, it would corrupt all your pictures.
Flashcard have no power by themselves, no moving parts, and all it really is is a piece of silicone wafer on a small circuit board. this stuff is basically water proof by design till u ad power to it. so im really not surprised it still works. after all, u thoroughly dried it in the dryer before u tried it

Nice. At least I now know if I was my camera bag the cards will be good. There's a website out there where this guy test memory cards, maybe you should e-mail him that tidbit of info. He might be interested. I don't know that anyone has ever done a "washer test" on a memory card.

The nice thing about CF is the lack of internal power. You can't short the pins, since the unit is basically dormant till plugged in. Glad to know they are mostly waterproof as well.
BTW, I usually check zipzoomfly before purchasing any memory.
