i have always wanted to know what it would take to start one there is nothing around where i live and if i could talk to wife into it i would love to start one, but dont really know what it would take land wouldnt be a problem but i mean like insurance and stuff like that is there any laws on having one?

 

land, lots of land. laws probably vary by state. and insurance would be a big one as well. a lawyer to draw up a no fault affidavit, or whatever it is called.

 

the thing that really kills most people is the liability insurance. you need to have the people that wheel there basically sign there life away if anything would happen to them. i have wanted to do this too but you need alot of land.

 

Like everyone is saying land land land. If you could get a chunk of land. I would say about 100 acres to start.

 

when i was younger, i had the idea of having a ORV set up similar like a golf course, houses around the property sold to people who are into outdoors/wheeling community and making it so the homeowners wouldn't hear much noise from the park itself.

insurance would be a big thing. followed by zoning and noise restrictions. not everyone would want my idea in their neighbourhood.

EDIT: i just thought of a place. try and see if there is a quarry near you that might wanna sell off land they can no longer use. the locas are allready used to loud noises and the land is built up around the edges creating a noise barrier that would eliminate any excess noise that might escape.

 

my wifes family has about 300 acers some is farm land and some isnt evan used we use it maily for firewood but while doing fire wood this year i noticed that there is alot of places that would be fun with some rocks and deep creek crossings and things like that and just though that this could be a fun place to do some wheeling and was just pondering the idea of starting a place to ride but the family wouldnt like the idea very much so it was just basically a thought but thanks for the comments if i could find some land for a decent price it would really be a plan then........

 

You got to remember location too. Most places have zoning and most people will protest things like this in their backyard, as it could be detrimental to property value. You will need neighbor hood support, and just opening one up without permission from the City/county/township or whoever is going to land you in hot water.

Move somewhere with a bunch of public land, that's the best solution!
