hi i have a 93 ranger with a 4.0 and when i step on it or accelerate the injectors or somthing makes a clicking noise but when i hold it at a constant speed the clicking goes away. is there any way to fix it or is it the trucks age catching up with it?

 

I doubt your hearing the injectors because they are quite quiet. It sounds to me like you might be hearing pinging/detonation. It would only occur when under load such as accelerating or climbing a hill, but would go away at constant speeds. You could try running premium gas with a higher octane rating for one tank and see if it goes away.

Or exhaust leak, valve train noise.
