Hey guys, so I'm in the process of getting pics up, but I just wanted to get out how impressed with my FX4 Level II.

My fiance and I went out last night with a couple friends, Its on an old cut line, but has some great areas. We went about 5 miles on it, so it was short in terms of distance, but we were out for a few hours.

I was out with two other Jeep wranglers, four door 5 speed manual. Pretty neat considering I was the only one who didn't get stuck. That freggin truck powered through everything, there wasn't anything in this trip anyways, that I had a problem with, worked it through all the gears, high and low range just to try everything out. Towards the end, where one jeep got stuck, and I mean water up past his bumper, I had to creep over this really steep little hill. The pictures don't do it justice, plus at the top was an extremely tight turn to the left, I was going up it with about 3" of clearance on either side.

But, with all that said, I am very happy with it. Did much more than I thought it could do.

To be fair, the jeep that got really stuck came out of it with no problems after-wards, so kudos. And the other on got truck I think because of the tires, certainly not off roaders per-sea, but it did well.

Ok, so, here they come.

This is what the majority of the road was like, not much, but it was fun.


Give you an idea of the land scape where I am.

This was the first bigger hole we came to, didn't look to bad, and was apparently the worst one.


So, after gaging the hole, I decided it was my turn. So, getting into it, with some wicked flex. Also, this is totally stock.




Then with enough peer pressure we got a our buddy to go.




Then, we keep going, my buddy ahead disappears, I come over a small hill and see this. He was right in there. So, he starting wenching him self out a bit, while we looked for another way around.



And, we find that hill. So, they go up it first, it takes a feq mintues as his tires wern't the best, and at the top of that hill was a **** load of roots, so you would get up at the crest of the hill and just spin. So not only did you have to gun it to get up, but the clearence on the sides from tree's was about 3", and at the top was a sharp right turn to the left.



Then Im getting ready.


When I went up the first time, I span on the roots, so I had to stop, come back down, and try again.




But, I did make it up the second time in one try, had to get a feel for the hill the first time.

Clearance.



Then my friend came down on the other side, and got stuck, but its more because he went to come up on the other side and shimmied into the position he was in, which sucked because he was right up against the bank.


But, we got him pulled out with man power, so.


Then is was my turn to go through, a breeze.






Then, I got back up to pull my friend out the rest of the way.
A few tugs and he was out.






So, all in all a great day. Had a chance to really use the truck and again, I am more then happy with it.

You should crank your t-bars and go with 32 or 33" tires and see what that level ll will really do out there! Looks like you had a good time. I wish there were trails like that around here

 

You did well to get thru all that on those BFG's!

 

I know, I see no reason to go with anything too major in the future. I would love to put some KM2's on. That will have to wait.

And I've tried cranking the t-bars but I can get them to budge. I actually broke one of my old heads trying to get it off. So, im going to have to get them done at a shop, I just dont have what ever it takes to get them off. Doused them and everthing in wd-40.

Any sugestions?

yea x2 you can see on the pic with the title "then im gettin ready" after the blue jeep.the dirt and mud built up for the classic mud slick nickname..

yea they however are really good tires. imho prob the best tire for all around. last forever will do well off road last forever... i tried to do the tbars on my truck to and i could move them. i was arfaid of breaking somehign and i was crankin hard on them... interested in suggestions as well!!!

 

You guys are lifting the truck up on the frame so the wheels are hanging before you're trying to crank them right? Just want to make sure... the bolts shouldn't be that hard to turn.

 

I tried both ways, Mind you I couldn't crank both at the same time, I am only able to jack up one side at a time, but either way, tried when the tire was up and when it wasn't, they just wouldn't budge.

 

yea same here i tried both ways too and nothing.....

 

Don't crank the t-bars and going up one inch in tire size isn't going noticably to improve your already great off-road capabilities.

 

Looks fun! If you are looking at KM2s or anything else, I would look at either 33x10.50R15s on stock wheels or 32x11.50s. Don't bother cranking the torsion bars much because the ride will suffer quite a bit, especially off road.
Personally I think 33x10.50 KM2s would look and work great on that truck.

You're turning the t-bar bolt to the right correct? Are you sure you're turning the right bolt?

On another note, I'm jealous of those trails. I'd love to go down something like that.

 

hmmm...why cant u lift up both sides at the same time? are u using the spare tire jack on the little hook on the lower control arm? if so that ur not actually taking the weight off the t-bars...u would need to lift the truck up so the lower control arms are at full drop and the tires are hanging freely....just a thought

 

you can get 32x11.5x15's on your truck with out a tbar crank...

 

He has a level 2 he can get 33x10.5 without a tbar crank as well.

 

I only have the one jack, so that would explain why.

that said, I don't Im going to bother. I will get the 33"X10.5" then a suspension lift in the near future.

On a side note, I am a litte pissed as their are a tonne of scratches on it now, but, Its my toy so in a sense Im not worried about it, makes it look like I use it anyways.

Most of them will buff out probably. I had so much trail pinstriping on my white Ranger but it doesn't really show up on white.

 

just get a bl new wheels and 33 12.50s and front locker and go to town again i wish i had trails like that around here

 

Nice! Looks just like mine lol, do they make 33x1150? I think the alcoas look sweet but i know a 15x7 wheel isnt usually used on a 1250 wide tire, and those 33x1050 look skinny when lifted.

 

when I graduate college I'm gonna get me a 06 level 2 twin stick. Those look like some fun times.

 

That will never happen, not because your sentence structure and grammar leads me to believe you won't graduate college, but because the last year of the twin stick ranger was 2003.

 

06's never came with a twin stick only 02-03 level 2's had that option
