ecm question

Hey guys I have an 84 ranger that i am currently putting a 66 289 in. My question is do i need the ecm any longer or is it just a lot of wiring taking up space under my hood?

You wont need the ECM to run that engine but if you have emissions testing on that truck then you might need to make it work to control that only.
