What should be the service interval on the 4.0 OHV timing chain in my 94 Ranger?

you really dont have to change it if you dont want to.

 

Well I have the motor open but I really don't feel like putting a timing set on it.

 

timing chains do have a service life and they do stretch over time

everything i have read about them is::: every 100,000 miles

every time you start the engine you place a shock load on the timing chain

Wrong wrong wrong wrong. OHV timing chains have a replacement interval of 500,000 miles or engine rebuild, whichever comes first. They are short chains so wear on the chain pins doesnt change timing much. Timing chains for OHC engines should also last the life of the car, but being longer they do tend to stretch more. Timing belts are made of rubber and have to be replaced at regular intervals.

If the front of the engine is already taken apart, replacing an OHV timing chain is a piece of cake and you might as well replace it.

 

I can't think of anyone I know who had to replace the timing chain on a 4.0l ohv, even trucks with well over 200k miles.
It's not going to hurt but I really doubt you need to.
