4.0 OHV Timing Chain
timing chains do have a service life and they do stretch over time
everything i have read about them is::: every 100,000 miles
every time you start the engine you place a shock load on the timing chain

They are short chains so wear on the chain pins doesnt change timing much. Timing chains for OHC engines should also last the life of the car, but being longer they do tend to stretch more. Timing belts are made of rubber and have to be replaced at regular intervals. If the front of the engine is already taken apart, replacing an OHV timing chain is a piece of cake and you might as well replace it.
