What up dudes im trying to lift my 1999 Ford Ranger 2wd XLT 6 cyc and 3.0L. I saw a lift kit and was wondering if anybody has had experience with springtech products and are they good. thanks for any help. this is the lift kit link Lift Kit 3" - 98-00 FORD RANGER 2WD

 

"Springtech" spindles are actually Doetsch spindles. I recommend them.

Does any one else have any opinions on the Doetsch spindles? I've heard good things and I've heard bad things, but it seems to me these things will perform based on how you take care of them.

The cases I've read with broken spindle snouts have a few common threads, either the wheel bearings are shot, they had oversized tires on them (33"+), and they've been beat on pretty hard off road (jumping, etc.).

I'm on the fence about getting these things as well, but I'm also concerned if I take these things off the road if they're going to break on me? Some guy said over at DezertRangers that some Class 7 trucks ran them in competition...but who knows, I would hope as long as you don't jump with these things, they'd treat you okay.

The snouts breaking are always either due to serious off roading (jumping, rocks) or from a huge pot hole or something that would have done in your stock one anyway. And of course 33+ tires wears out all suspension components. You cook ball joints, control arms, and the bearings. But it a bearing fails that would be the bearings fault, not the spindle.

For lifting your truck suspension wise you have three options. Doestch spindles (3 inch), Fabtech spindles (3.5 inch), and Fabtech lift springs with upper control arms (2.5 inch).

The "safest" method is springs and control arms since you aren't actually changing how the wheel and tires mount. I don't recommend it though because they change the geometry of your ride so the wheels don't have as much travel.

Spindles are the best way. If you REALLY are worried about snouts you could swap the one that comes in the spindle with your stock one. Not sure how. All I know is I hear more of Fabtech snout problems over Doetsch.
