06+ mirrors on, had problems with passenger side

Got my mirrors from Police Interceptor (Joe) yesterday. Got SOOO lost on the way there. All good though.

Modded my mirrors with a 3 inch grinder (overkill, I know, but no dremel) and sandpaper.

I had trouble with the passenger side. I didn't mod it right the first time so I have to unscrew the bolts to take it off. Instead of the nuts coming off 2 of the screws backed out of the mirror mount

So I fixed the mirrors and tried to remount them. I tightened down the one nut and tried to spin the nut/screw combo back into the housing. No go. It just kept spinning around the hole and didn't push in. I tried to apply pressure to the mirror but I got nothing.

So now it is on but only secured up top. The bottom screws wouldn't go back in. And I can't get them out of the door since the nut is tightened to the extreme on the screw.

It vibrates a bit while driving and rattles. ANNOYING. So I packed up the bottom (1/3 inch gap between the door and mirror) with foam trim tape to stop the rattle but it looks like poop.

Any advice?
