So I went to the auto wrecker the other day hoping to score a FX4 shifter and skid plate. I did find a fx4 level2 but the shifter assembly was missing and the skid plate was damaged.

I did however find those level 2 chrome j shaped tow hooks everyone seems to go hard for. They want 60 bucks for the pair. What advantages do i get over my stock black ones?

Also for a hitch they were wanting 65, good price?

 

They just look better. You could probably sell them on here for 80+ if they're in good condition.

That price on the hitch isn't bad, its reasonable.

 

Grab the rear axle as well. Its worth some $$$. Are you wanting the tranny shifter or the manual T-case shifter. If you want the T-case I have one of those I'd sell. I'd love to put it in my F150 but it has the FX4 flow through console so I'm screwed.

And would those j hooks get in the way of my fogs?

I don't think so if the stock ones don't affect them. They mount the same way as the stock ones do.

How do your lights mount?

 

An L bracket that attaches to one of the tow hook bolts.

Not too sure if the level 2 J hooks would touch the fog light bolts since they are already close to the stock hooks.

 

Hmmm, I'm not sure without seeing it. Worst case is you can flip them on here and make a few bucks

 

i say grab them tow hooks and try them out.if they don't work i know they wont last long on here for sale before some buys them

Also I am having this weird noise when i accelerate or when the engine is under load. It comes from the passengers side floor and sounds like a minor exhaust leak. I went to my mechanic and it's not an exhuast leak.

The weird thing is when ever i have a passenger or random stuff on the floor i can barely hear it. When i went to ford they said it's normal detonation noise but it sounds too loud to be normal.

I thought maybe it's engine ping so i ran sea-foam and filled up with premium and no change.

Any thoughts?

It's really hard to explain but i will try my best. It's very constant and sounds as if the exhaust is escaping somewhere.

 

the hooks are mainly for looks but they will allow you to use a loop style tow strap without a D-ring which is nice
