Tail gate stolen

I dont know if I'm the first to think about it but here is a great way to protect your tail gate from thiefs. On the right pivot head of your tail gate, just install a hose clip around it and make sure you finish tightening it from under.

No thief will think about having the tool to remove the gate to run away with. Just $2.00
and you save at least $800 and whole lot of hassle.

A new gate on primer, no side cables, no outside decorations not mentioning if you have a
plastic lining inside is certainly a lot of bucks. Oh yes, I forgot to mention you had to get it painted at your truck color...

Give this idea to all your Ranger and even other pickup friends.

Simple

its actually very common, my buddy had his stolen twice off his sonoma. i lock the tailgate on my F-150 all the time, always wished my ranger had a lock, it literally takes less than a minute to steal a tailgate. good idea with the hose clamp, it my slow someone down just enough so they wont want to take it.

My tailgate is damaged from someone hitting me. I see rangers like mine and think if it was late night and dark enough their tailgate would be mine, lol. So I'll probably do this to mine soon.

By the way, you can buy a new tailgate off of ebay painted for under 300$ shipped.

I'm not sure about how many rangers around me have there tailgates stolen, but it's almost guaranteed if you don't lock it on an F-150 it will be gone very fast.

My Nissan tailgate was stolen when my wife borrowed my truck to get her nails done and went to the store and had the tailgate unlocked. Problaby took 2 minutes. That was ten years ago and I have been using the hose clamp trick since then. My F250 has a lock, but my sons Ranger does not. That tailgate cost $800 from the dealer and that was 10 years ago!

Just last month, had a customer have the tailgate off his 2011 Super Duty stolen, it had the step buillt into it...............Ford doesn't offer an assy, so it has to be pieced, and believe it or not, it totaled $3000.

Hey Kyle

Look out the window, ther's a guy running with you tailgate under his arm. You just forgot to lock it. He has a buyer just a mile away...Those robbers were placed an order with the desired color. When your gate is smashed, its very tempting to order it this way.

To answer your question, just open your tailgate, at 45 degree, it comes off very easily from the right side. Only $2. can save lots of hundreds.

if someone wants it bad enough, they are gonna take it. period. granted, do what you can to prevent theft.
